Very few businesses have a strategy.

Ask yourself if you have one, and let's see if you pass the test.

  • Could you state it instantly? If not, then you don’t have one

  • Was it a strategy or a goal? A lot of people say something like ‘to be number 1 in our market’, that is a goal, not a strategy.

  • If I ask your team what your strategy is, would they have an answer?

Now the truth is, most businesses will actually be just fine without a strategy. Lots of profitable businesses go for years without one.

But….

Having no strategy comes at an immense cost to you and your team.

Without a strategy, you have no direction, nowhere to place your energy and actions.

Without strategy, you have no advantage. Your margins will be thin, and everything is harder.

Without a strategy, motivation is lower. People want to believe in a story. They want to believe in the journey.

A strategy is how great companies become great. From strategy you can build culture. From culture you can build action.

So yes, you can survive another year without a strategy, but you shouldn’t have to.

You have decided you need a strategy, great. Now what?

Well, most people now try to carve out some time and sit down to make a long, boring document full of what they think is strategy, but it's really just goals. They share the document with the team, and everyone nods. Before long, everyone has gone back to doing what they were always doing.

I want to offer you a different route. A route where we create huge momentum, energy and excitement. We collaboratively bring a strategy to life. A strategy rooted in who you are and where you are going. Then we frame that work in a narrative that captures the imagination and inspires people to achieve more than they thought possible. Before finally building a system and a culture capable of maintaining high velocity, big action and heaps of motivation.
